College Recruiting the Old Fashioned Way

CE Director and Princeton University Head Coach Kristen Holmes-Winn recently took a few minutes to discuss the value of summer camps and how they relate to college recruiting. There’s nothing wrong with USFHA sponsored events, showcases and tournaments; but more often than not, coaches prefer to get to know athletes the old fashioned way – through summer camps.

There are currently 262 NCAA colleges and universities that sponsor field hockey. If each averages an incoming freshman class of 5, that means over 1300 roster spots will need to be filled on an annual basis. If you’re serious about playing hockey in college, more than likely there’s a place for you.
